Cock-a-doodle-MOO! - Hop on the hayride—it’s time to head for the farm! In this class, you will sing songs about the farm, including “Old MacDonald,” “Hayride,” and “Clever Cows.” You’ll engage in rituals and playful activities with your baby, including infant massage, lap bounces, exercise, and quiet time. During the week, you'll enjoy their At Home Materials, looking through a playful picture book of animals and the sounds they make, as well as a CD of the songs heard in class and an instrument for music-making at home.

Wiggle and giggle, wiggle and giggle, wiggle and giggle some more!  There are a hundred ways (and more!) to wiggle and giggle!  Every Kindermusik Our Time child has a unique wiggle and giggle.

We will wiggle like fish looking up at Lukeys’ Boat as we sing and say rhymes. With our instruments we will scrape to “Wishy Washy We” as we become sailors coming across the sea! We wiggle our fingers and shake our eggs to “A Ram Sam Sam” and dance in our huge group to “Clapping Land”.

What a fabulous way to start the year!!!

See What I Saw is a favourite program! We meet Johnny & Katie who go to Grasshopper Park & swing so high on the swings! There is a lot of pretend play to feed the young creative mind here. We find things in the park too – such as rocks, leaves & feathers – all the while singing about them!

We read our books – “Can You Find Me?” and “The Ant Picnic Feast” and play our instruments – the Slide Whistle & Lumi Sticks. The slide whistle can be a tricky instrument to play, but with some practice, we know we will get there!

This will be so much fun!!

This is the program that the children are advised to complete (1 year) before they begin the Encore on Keys class.

We begin moving more exactly, although freely to the music we hear, as play to a tighter beat whilst encouraged to sing confidently. The classes are still a lot of fun and include plenty of creativity as we create our own compositions!

We also take home a little bit of homework to complete before our next class. We might have to bring something in, or practice drawing our ta’s & rests! We are getting ready to learn to read & write music!

The glockenspiel is the main focus in semester 2. We continue learning the correct technique whilst preparing for our end of year concert.

We all take home a new CD & new folder – it’s GREEN! Musical baseball is a great game we play to reinforce the method of learning rhythms & melodies through dictation. The staff is built by the class whilst the children’s bodies become the notes that jump on and off! We learn more about the families of the orchestra and meet Tchaikovsky in “Peter & the Wolf”.

At Home Materials:

  • Folder full of activities
  • Illustrated family songbook
  • Games bag/Rhythm Sticks/Note Chips
  • CD
  • Glockenspiel
  • Purple carry bag

Encore on Keys Junior Series 1&2 (Year 1)

In 2007, Musikids launched this programme into the curricular. To parents and to the Musikids staff, it was a major success, as we were all entertained so confidently at the end of year concerts. We at Musikids are so proud of the musical achievements of the entire Encore on Keys students!

We sing songs with the Onkie characters, with & without the CD. We learn how to play music in our right & left hands – and even at the same time! The children receive a practice diary with their activities outlined clearly. Every week, parents are required to write comments on what they hear & see as their child practices.

Term 1 & Term 2 will be musically productive as students moved the Junior Series Book 1. In Term 3, students will be ready to move onto Book 2. At the end of the year, all students will be formally prepared for a concert, (in a stress free & enjoyable way).

Encore on Keys Junior Series 3&4 (Year 2)

To the children who have completed the first year of the Encore on Keys program: well done on a tremendous effort in 2008! The concerts you gave your audiences last year were so fabulous! So musical! So happy! And so rewarding!

Keep learning with the Onkie characters. It will get a little harder each week – so keep up your practise & you will remain on track!

At Home Materials:

  • CD
  • Music Book
  • Flash Cards
  • Plastic Wallet
  • Practise Diary

In 16 weeks wewill explore lots of different ways to move—high and low, fast and slow, zigzag, curvy, and more!

All family members will chug around the classroom like trains, clip-clop like horses, and roll over like puppy dogs. They’ll hear a story about playing tag together in Can You Catch Me?, and read about a jungle hokey-pokey in Put Your Left Paw In. Show your best groovin’ moves—it’s time for Movin’ & Groovin’.

We will be learning several vocal exercises that the choir can use at home to practise and warm up with before experimenting with and singing a variety of songs.

Song selection is very important to the dynamics and success of a group, therefore Kathryn will continue to decide on the selection of songs as confidence develops.
