In Term 4, we will be surrounded by flowers! We look at flowers, we smell a flower & we may even taste a flower! In our literature book titled “Dewdrops”, we search each page for the hidden dewdrop.

This is a brightly coloured book made of tough pages for your baby to grasp.

Our “Hello” and “Goodbye” songs change as we dance to the “Irish Trot”, “The Sally Gardens” and the “Gary Owen”.

We use mirrors as a tool to enhance vocal play activities and shake egg shakers to lay the foundations for beat development.

“Life has rhythm and pulse. Baby is aware of this even in the womb when he hears the pulse of Mothers’ heartbeat and feels the rhythm of her movements. This same pulse and rhythm is present in speech as well, & are highlighted in nursery rhymes."

With flowers being the main focus of this programme, some of the music you will hear on your CD at home is gentle. We move with scarves & sing lullabies while we rock. This is a programme that gently tightens the bond between baby & you. You will certainly enjoy enhancing the season of Spring with this class!

“Go…ing…UP!.....Go…ing DOWN!”  In one of our literature books, we meet Razupazu Toto – a fun photographer who travels to cities of the world! There is much pretend play through song & movement taking place in Cities. Your 3 – 5 year old thrives on learning in this creative way!

This is the program that the children are advised to complete (1 year) before they begin the Encore on Keys class.

We begin moving more exactly, although freely to the music we hear, as play to a tighter beat whilst encouraged to sing confidently. The classes are still a lot of fun and include plenty of creativity as we create our own compositions!

We also take home a little bit of homework to complete before our next class. We might have to bring something in, or practice drawing our ta’s & rests! We are getting ready to learn to read & write music!

The glockenspiel is the main focus in semester 2. We continue learning the correct technique whilst preparing for our end of year concert. We all take home a new CD & new folder – it’s GREEN! Musical baseball is a great game we play to reinforce the method of learning rhythms & melodies through dictation. The staff is built by the class whilst the children’s bodies become the notes that jump on and off! We learn more about the families of the orchestra and meet Tchaikovsky in “Peter & the Wolf”.

At Home Materials:

  • Folder full of activities
  • Illustrated family songbook
  • Games bag/Rhythm Sticks/Note Chips
  • CD
  • Glockenspiel

Encore on Keys Junior Series 1&2 (Year 1)

In 2007, Musikids launched this programme into the curricular. To parents and to the Musikids staff, it was a major success, as we were all entertained so confidently at the end of year concerts. We at Musikids are so proud of the musical achievements of the entire Encore on Keys students!

We sing songs with the Onkie characters, with & without the CD. We learn how to play music in our right & left hands – and even at the same time! The children receive a practice diary with their activities outlined clearly. Every week, parents are required to write comments on what they hear & see as their child practices.

Term 1 & Term 2 will be musically productive as students moved the Junior Series Book 1. In Term 3, students will be ready to move onto Book 2. At the end of the year, all students will be formally prepared for a concert, (in a stress free & enjoyable way).

Encore on Keys Junior Series 3&4 (Year 2)

To the children who have completed the first year of the Encore on Keys program: well done on a tremendous effort in 2008! The concerts you gave your audiences last year were so fabulous! So musical! So happy! And so rewarding!

Keep learning with the Onkie characters. It will get a little harder each week – so keep up your practise & you will remain on track!

At Home Materials:

  • CD
  • Music Book
  • Flash Cards
  • Plastic Wallet
  • Practise Diary

“Here There & Everywhere” sees the family visiting friends, going on picnics in the park, taking a bus in the city, seeing penguins in the aquarium in the afternoon & spending a day on a farm! Lots of fun places are visited as we sing and play together as a family in a non-judgmental environment.

We play instruments to so many fabulous pieces and move to “Water Come A Me Eye” – a funky reggae song! Our families go on a hayride on the farm and dance the “Piggy Jig” too! This class is so much fun for the whole family!
