All you need to know
The Musikids Policy….and Frequently Asked Questions!

Which class is just right for us?
Each class has an age recommendation. These are made to ensure that children are grouped in a developmentally appropriate way and are a guide for you. Your child needs to be at least the minimum age for the chosen class by the start of a semester. Please speak to one of our teachers if you have any concerns.

Can we join a class at anytime during the term/semester?
Yes you can! Parents enrolling their child/ren after the commencement date, are advised that a discount for lessons unatteneded prior to enrolment will be given at the discretion of Musikids. This is also subject to the availability of space in the class. If you wish to enrol in Our Time or Imagine That! classes, be advised that these are semester long programs & not all material is covered in the first half of the semester , if you enrol in the second half of the semester. It may not be advisable at the time to enrol in a Young Child or Encore on Keys class, as the children in these classes are very settled in their classes after the first semester and are quite advanced. A new member to the class may feel fairly lost in one of these classes. It may be best to wait til the beginning of the next year.

At what age should I start my child?
We specialise in the young child newborn – 7 years. As soon as you are ready to attend a class with your newborn, we can accommodate you.

How do I enrol?
a. Contact us after checking our timetable to ensure availability. It is important to us that you speak to the teacher of the actual class that you wish to enrol your child/ren prior to the commencement of lessons. Please ensure that you speak to this teacher.
b. Complete the “Enrolment Form” and send with a deposit to Musikids (please see ‘Fee Structure” for details on how payments can be made)

How much would a casual class cost?
$15 per class across the board.

Musikids Discounts
10% Sibling Discount on the term fee portions for the younger sibling/s.
You receive $10 credit voucher if you introduce a friend to Musikids and they enrol.

Is this discount applicable to twins or siblings in the same class?
Yes! One of the siblings will receive the 10% discount.

Can I purchase gift vouchers for friends & family?
Yes – what a great idea! Vouchers are valid for the duration of 12 months from the date of purchase.

If I need to cancel our enrolment, can I get the deposit and/or fees back?
If you have not attended a class, you will receive your deposit less a $20 administration fee.
If you have attended a class and have taken your kit/materials home we cannot refund this deposit. The kit/materials are yours to keep. In extreme circumstances, the term fee less $10 x per each class not attending can be refunded.

Do we REALLY need the At Home Materials?
Yes. We cannot stress enough how important the contents of your At Home Materials assist the development of Music & Movement in your home. They are the thread that tightly connects the Musikids classroom to your child and continues the learning during the week. Constant use of these materials ensures your child enjoys the activities, feels secure and participates confidently in the classroom.

How do I know when my child is too sick to come to class?
If you know that your child is infectious or has to go to the doctor then they are too sick for class.

What happens if we miss a class?
Please notify us that you will not be attending class via email/phone/SMS.
We do not give credits for classes missed for holidays taken by your family. You are encouraged however, to attend a makeup lesson in a class that is not filled to capacity. This makeup lesson must be organised with us prior to you attending.
If classes missed were due to serious illness and/or leaving the area suddenly, $10 can be credited for those classes unattended only when we are given advance notice. i.e. one week notice prior to/or after incident.

When do we arrive for class, and if my child takes the class without me, do I stay nearby?
Please arrive 5 minutes prior to class commencing so that we begin on time. If your child is enrolled in an Imagine That!, Young Child or Encore on Keys class, it is advised that you stay on or nearby the premises. You could use this time to rest yourself! It is important that you are there for the last 10 – 15minutes of these classes for Sharing/Family Time.

What do we need to bring to class?
Please dress comfortably & be prepared to take your shoes off for class.
If your child is enrolled in an Imagine That!, Young Child or Encore on Keys class, each child will be required to bring their At Home Materials and any homework completed.
Please do not bring toys to class. Toys can be a distraction to class routine.

Should we bring food & a drink to class just in case we get hungry?
Food is not permitted on the premises due to the possibility of a class member having an allergic reaction. A sealed flask of water is allowed, however will not be consumed in the classroom. Food & drink are a distraction to others in the class.

Can I bring other family members or friends to watch us in class?
This is not advised. All children enrolled in their specific classes depend on continuity for the class to feel safe & secure. An additional person in the class upsets the flow of the lesson.
It is not ideal for siblings to attend Village or Our Time classes with the child that is enrolled. These programs have been specially designed for you and your child only. A Family Time class caters perfectly for families with more than one child.
Please speak to a teacher if you are still unsure of what to do at the time of enrolment.

Can we take photos or video my child in class?
No. Not without prior permission from all participants in the class.

I have another question ...
